New3 Prof. David Kazhdan, recipient of the Rothschild Prize for 2010.
The Prizes will be awarded in Jerusalem on 15th April 2010. (Nov. 2009)
The Fermat Prize for mathematics research (2009) has been awarded to
Elon Lindenstrauss for his results in ergodic theory and their applications to number theory,
and to Cedric Villani for his contributions to optimal transportation theory and to the study of non-linear evolution equations.

Dr. Noam Berger is among the five young Hebrew University of Jerusalem scientists awarded five-year research grants under the European Union's second competition for outstanding starting independent researchers, for his research project to improve the methods of study of processes of random motion in an irregular medium.
The research grants are being given through the European Research Council (ERC). (Sept. 2009)
